VDCA Cambodia

Support Us

VDCA is a registered NGO in Cambodia. We receive no government assistance and all our programs are funded through donations from our generous donors, sponsors, Partner Organizations and volunteer fundraisers. We currently operate our VDCA- Anlung Pi Free School, at the rural located by the dump area, which both have around 300 students each. Building Together in Cambodia (B.T.I.C.) has contributed a Nursery School and Feeding Program, which serves around 70 children a hot lunchtime meal, 5 days a week. B.T.I.C has also established a Housing Project, providing temporary housing for 7 families who formerly lived and/or worked in the dump.

Anlung Pi Free School

Early in 2012 we began our dream of building another VDCA Free School, in the rural area at Anlung Pi Village, 25km from Siem Reap City. Through the generosity of local and international donors, and friends, we completed the school. Our mission is to provide rural children from Anlung Pi, and the nearby rubbish dump, access to a free education. Mid 2012 our school was completed and a grand opening was held attended by donors, friends, staff and the local community. Our school was blessed by Buddhist Monks in keeping with the Cambodian tradition. The opening was enjoyed by all and generated great excitement in the community. Many local families came to the registration and more than 300 children were enrolled in the school. Our school continues to grow and evolve under the direction of our Manager, Mr. Bunhak. We have 300 children, aged from 5-18, who receive a free education in Khmer, English, Buddhist morality and hygiene. We support children to attend the State School, providing tuition fees, school supplies and bicycles. We also provide free health screening for the children and families, twice a year. Anlung Pi Sewing Program VDCA offers women in the Anlung Pi community an opportunity for a better future through our vocational Sewing Program. We currently have 15 women attending our classes, where they learn sewing skills and create goods for sale in local and international markets.

We have compiled a wishlist as a guide for our supporters and donors. This is by no means an exhaustive list, as we are always developing new projects to help underprivileged children in Cambodia. If you have any questions or ideas for projects, please feel free to contact us.

Our Current Projects

We always have new projects in the works to make it better for our schools and help more children and families in need. Watch this space!

Sponsor a child USD $3/monthly

If you wish to support one child or a few children individually you can do this by giving an amount of USD $3 per child per month. This is the what it costs us to provide free education to each child at Anlung Pi

A health Care USD $15/monthly

For soap, toothpaste, toothbrush (3 months supply per child).Especially in rural areas there is still a lack of hygiene. We plan to
make this part of their lessons each day, so provision of these items is important to teach them basic hygiene for themselves

Teacher salaries USD $200/monthly

The teachers’ salaries are the most important priority because many NGOs and other supporters don’t focus on the teachers and want to put their donations towards buildings or other supplies for the children. But without the teachers the children could not learn so we really need to support our teachers. By focusing on the teacher’s salaries, the staff themselves will become even stronger teachers because they will be content in their work and able to meet the needs of their own families.

Land lease USD $150/monthly

We currently lease the land which the VDCA- Anlung Pi schools is on because we do not have enough funding to purchase the land. In the future we hope to have enough donations to be able to buy the land so that the school can be permanent and continue to educate children forever.

Internet USD $ 15/monthly

Most of our teachers use the internet to help plan their lessons, to find new ideas for the lessons so to keep the classes interesting. The children can also use and learn computer, both in the computer classes and in their free time, so that they can continue their learning and expand their knowledge.

Electricity USD$ 25/monthly

Note: We greatly appreciate any one-time donations or continued support of our school. If you would like to support a specific area in the school, please contact us for more information on your particular area of interest.
