The Volunteer Development Children’s Association was first established in 2005 by two Buddhist monks, Rathana Nn and Togh Main, who wanted to give some of Siem Reap’s poorest children a future by offering free education and advice. Within just four years, VDCA had evolved from two basic thatch classrooms to a large and colorful school with more than 600 students who enjoyed learning and playing there. Our Projects
VDCA and the International Community VDCA is part of a global community that supports positive change in the lives of our fellow human beings. A real sense of community and connectedness is important to us here. VDCA currently has supporters from numerous countries, including New Zealand, UK, Australia, USA, Germany, and Japan. Several organizations, charities and individuals have been supporting VDCA over the past years. Some sponsor a particular project or a student, while others make a regular monthly contribution or a one-time donation. Any form of support is appreciated and needed at VDCA. So, whether you would like to donate once, become a regular supporter or sponsor a specific project, your help will make a difference!
Our Mission
- Teach the students to become responsible for their own lives, actions and to make decisions for positive change.
- Support the staff dedicated to this school via teacher training and financial incentives.
- Give foreigners the chance to contribute to development via volunteering.
- Promote Cambodian ownership and sustainability of the school.
